In this series, we speak to some of the girl bosses behind the brands in our BYDEAU gift boxes to find out their journey in creating the products.

1) Tell us something about yourself that people might not know about you.
I write with my right hand but I can only use a pair of scissors with my left hand. I also colour better using my left hand! In the past few years, I've developed a weird phobia for wooden disposable cutlery. I get the tingles even just from typing about it!
2) Where do you get inspiration from when designing?
Other than keeping up with what's happening in the baby industry, I tend to look for inspirations outside and graphic, illustration and interior designs always manage to tickle my mind. I also like to look at what makes a brand successful in other industries and adapt the good practices that could be applied to my own. Sometimes, it's as simple as exchanging ideas with other entrepreneurs. Travelling always opens up new horizons too!
3) Were there any difficulties you faced?
Too many to mention! One of those was finding the right manufacturer who's willing to work with a boutique brand like TinyBitz, and to produce for the smaller quantities for each design since we had 3 different-sized bodysuits AND in different designs inside each Growing Kit. So on that note, we have been very blessed! It's also been difficult to say no to customers who was interested in just one piece within the set, but sometimes you just have to stand firm with the 'growing gift' concept that you've built all these years.
4) What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given during your journey with TinyBitz?
Find the balance: Be aware of competition around you but don't worry so much about it. Be proud of what you build, but also be humble about what you're yet to improve. Be direct with your team, but always be kind and empathetic. Hard work and grit play an important role as do luck and opportunities. Devoting your time to the business is as important as carving out time to look after your own well being.
5) Which is your favourite BYDEAU arrangement and who would you gift it to?
The Pamper Box: For my sister! She deserves more than just a pamper as she always put others first. She's a selfless mum, a caring daughter, a loving sister and on top of that, a business woman running her own practice. She continues to amaze me on her super powers!
