HONG KONG

TOP OUTDOOR GREEN SPACES

What did you do this summer?" *awkward silence*

Summer often flies by, before you know it it's September and can't remember if you got up to anything interesting over the holidays.  Summertime, aka picnic season, is coming soon and we don't want you ending up with seasonal boredom. REPEAT. AFTER. US. This hot season isn’t going to be about last minute movie plans and amusement park tickets that might just break the bank. We're here to show you a few beautiful spots for picnics, to chill out, enjoy the sunshine or sunset and wind down in HK. We're well aware of the lack of green open spaces in our city, and it has become a luxurious commodity. Honestly, skyline view restaurants and indoor pastimes can’t match the joy of sitting in nature and relaxing with your family and friends.

1. TAMAR PARK

Filled with serenity, impressive outdoor art installations and a grassy area, it is an urban park along Victoria Harbour in the Admiralty district of Hong Kong. Ideal for a fun picnic with your family and friends, with an uplifting atmosphere and occasional food trucks. Get there in the late afternoon and enjoy a mesmerising sunset behind the city skyline.

2. SUN YAT SEN PARK

This is definitely one of our favorites, with a wonderful view of the harbour! You'll often find people doing a bit of yoga or having a picnic day out here. There's also a swimming pool nearby so you can go for a dip if the heat gets the better of you.

3. KAI TAK CRUISE TERMINAL

This park is the tip of the old runway in Kowloon. A unique and rather isolated place, next to the cruise terminal. A good grass lawn to spend an quiet afternoon with your family.

4. CYBERPORT

If you have a dog or just love dogs, then this beautiful spot is perfect for you! Plenty of grassy spots for picnics, also comes with a cycling trail, and trees for some shade. It’s a treat for people who love to read in the nature, and pup owners to let their dog goof around. Don't forget your frisbee, blanket and plenty of bug spray!

5. KWUN TONG PROMENADE

Since this area is under the re-development agenda, we recommend to take a visit as kwun tong won’t look like the original kwun tong soon! Great place for photography, overlooking the old airport and also sunsets. If people watching is your thing, you'll get to witness lots of bridal shoots taking place here too.
