HOW TO | Be a Gracious Guest this Thanksgiving

The Do's of attending Thanks(friends)giving
Get the dinner party going, but not without our 5 Tips in simple etiquette.
1. The Hostess Gift - going the extra mile.
It's a great way to start your evening and to say thank you even long after you've left. Positive vibes are the number one perky trait to any party, and nothing says it more than a hostess gift.
Bring a set display for the table with The Ginger – one of our Autumn Vase Arrangements that will take center stage without a fuss. If your hostess is already quite the master in decorating, a Thank You bouquet post-Friendsgiving will say it all.
2. Lend a hand.
It's common practice to offer help at any meal you have been extended an invite to, but Thanksgiving is a particularly important time. All that delicious food set on the table that's up for grabs is a result of hard work and time. Do your part and help whip, stir or light candles if needed + offer to help clean up afterward.
3. Be present.
Removing your phone from the equation (except for photos for social media) may seem an obvious one, but chances are there's always that one person. Be the first to respect your host and fellow invitees by putting your gadget(s) away and get engaged in laughter, conversation and time with the other guests.
4. Give a toast.
A sincere thank you is the most heartfelt you can make your host or hostess feel. It doesn't have to be funny. First, it's not for everyone & second, a good toast is always appreciated – no matter what.
5. Don't overstay your welcome.
Be respectful of your hostess' time and plans. A good rule of thumb is to start saying your goodbyes when others begin to depart. (Finishing that last bottle of wine is not an absolute must! Think of it as a parting gift.)
In truly good form, send a gift and card, this old-fashioned tradition is always welcome. The Figuier is a hassle-free and elegant option to gifting featuring a handheld bouquet & Cochine candle.
Top Tip: Your mother always taught you to write a Thank You card –
the team at BYDEAU can do handwritten notes to get your message across with a heartfelt touch!
